Frequently Asked Questions

Why Temporary Rain Watering Systems?

They are built tough. (Aluminum & Brass) Built to take the constant use in the Construction Industry. Battery operated, no cables to fool with and safe. Better than any competition with 40 years of combined installation experience. We wrote the book on portable temporary watering systems.

How does the Temporary Rain Watering Systems work?

The Temporary Rain Watering System works by opening and closing valves on a distributor manifold. When the controller is set to operate the valves, zone one valve (Valve One) will open and stay open for the allotted time and then will shut off. Then zone two will open valve two for the allotted time and will shut off at the allotted time. This process will repeat until all zones have finished their cycles.  The controller is programmed for a predetermined start time to repeat the cycling of the valves.

What type of hoses do I use?

We recommend a quality rubber hose to be used as the supply line from the water spigot to the Temporary Rain Watering System manifold inlet because they are under constant water pressure. A standard garden hose can be used from the watering system hose bibs to the sprinklers.

What types of sprinkler may I use with the Temporary Rain Watering Systems?

You can use impact sprinklers, gear driven sprinkler heads, soaker and misting hoses, so long as the type of dispensing method does not use more than the volume of water provided through the supply hose. The area to be watered determines the best sprinkler head to use.

How do I know what Temporary Rain Watering System to order?

The type of system to order depends on the type of the job. If the job is residential up to 2 acres, then the TR4B750 is used. If the job is commercial with narrow strips of turf, then the TR4B750 is used. If the job is commercial parkway or long narrow strips of turf, then the TR1B200 and/or TR4B750 can be used. If the job is commercial large areas, then the TR1B200 or TR4B100 with TR4B750 can be used.

How do I know how many Temporary Rain Watering Systems do I need to purchase for my lawn establishment?

On residential property, the equipment needs are based on lot size plus parkway. Click to see Coverage Chart On commercial property, the equipment needs are based on sprinkler count. On large areas, the equipment needs are based on acres.

If I only want to water my existing lawn automatically, how many Temporary Rain Watering Systems do I need to purchase?

On residential property, the equipment needs are based on lot size plus parkway. Setup is not as critical as on a existing lawn, therefore the equipment requirements may be less.

What if it rains?

If it is raining, shut off all the outside water supplies to the property. Turn on only after the rain has stopped and the surface of the ground has started to dry.

Does the grass grow under the hose?

Yes, the seed will germinate underneath the hose and grows around it. The sod will send new blades up from the crown around the hose. Some yellowing may occur but disappears in a few days.

When Temporary Rain Watering Systems are being used, do they operate all the sprinklers at one time?

No, each sprinkler operates on its own zone.

Can more than one sprinkler be on a single zone?

We recommend only one sprinkler per zone, but with sufficient water pressure and volume two sprinklers can be used on one zone. You can try that zone with two sprinklers, but watch each sprinkler to see if they perform to what is needed for the area. Sometimes, substitution with low pressure and low volume sprinkler heads are used to accomplish the area watering.

Do you need a booster pump when operating the Temporary Rain Watering Systems?

No, the Temporary Rain Watering Systems operate at normal well or city water pressures. A Booster Pump can over pump a private well system leaving the rest of the home with no water.
